This palette was designed with many of my favorite shades and also tailored to some of my favorite ways to apply makeup:
- Combination of warm and cool shades/muted and bright shades/neutral and colorful shades in one look.
- Applying sheer, glittery eyeshadow over other shimmery or matte eyeshadows.
The theme came from my open collaboration #ShadeCascade, which is all about layering eyeshadows to create a brand new shade. I wanted to create a palette that reflected my love for it, but with a new and fresh name, and then I came across the word "coalescence". The scientific definition is "the joining or blending of elements into a mass or whole".
I love the idea of combining science and nature with art, and that's how I came up with the names for the shades. They are all pairs or opposites, like flora + fauna and harmony + dissonance.
Four of the color names are Sanskrit words for the four elements: Agni = fire, Jal = water, Vayu = air, Bhoomi = earth. I chose these names to reflect my Indian heritage. These four elements are also represented on the cover design, which was inspired by the atomic structure.
